Construction d'un mökki, leçon n°2 / Mökki building, lesson n° 2

Je continue avec ma petite série "travaux pratiques finlandais", dont la première partie se trouve ici. 

Deuxième étape de la construction du mökki : le trou pour les fondations. Une étape que j'ai d'autant plus appréciée qu'elle ne m'a coûté aucun effort... C'est une grue qui est venue faire tout ça ! Je n'étais même pas là, et je ne peux donc vous montrer que les photos prises après coup.

Les parents ours ont eu la chance de tomber sur un terrain de bonne terre bien solide, elle-même plantée sur du roc. Ils ont donc pu réduire les fondations à leur minimum.  D'autant plus que par tradition, les mökkis sont construits en surplomb par rapport au sol, sur une plateforme en bois, comme on peut le voir sur la photo du petit bâtiment sauna.

The second step was my favourite, considering that I did not have to move a finger for it: preparing the foudation's hole.  The Bear family called for a professional to dig it. I wasn't even there, so I can only show you pictures taken afterwards.

The Bear family was lucky to find a good land where the soil is strong and tops rock. They could therefore reduce the foundations to their minimum.  Moreover, traditionnally mökkis are built a bit above the ground, on a wooden platform, as you can see from this picture of the sauna building.

Donc les fondations ont pu être réduites au minimum et n'étaient pas très profondes.  Il y a eu deux trous, comme il y aura deux bâtiments distincts : un bâtiment garage et remise, et puis le bâtiment principal. 

Pour le garage, le trou a bien sûr été un peu plus profond étant donné que le bâtiment doit être au niveau du sol, mais le sol sera également rehaussé. Le bâtiment en lui-même aura la forme d'un L, mais le morceau manquant pour en faire un rectangle recevra un auvent pour un parking couvert qui a lui aussi besoin de fondations.  Le trou est donc plus ou moins carré.

So foundations could be reduced to their minimum and weren't very deep.  There are two holes, since they will be two distinct buildings : a garage-storing room, and the main building.

For the garage, the hole needed to be deeper since the building must be at ground level, but the ground will also be levelled up. The building itself will have the shape of an L, but the part remaining to make it a rectangle will get a roof to make it a covered parking which also needs foundations.  So the hole is more or less square shaped.

Le bâtiment principal est rectangulaire à l'exception d'une avancée vitrée en demi octogone dans la direction du lac, qui donnera une superbe vue au salon.  Devant cette partie se trouvera une terrasse posée directement sur le roc qui affleure à cet endroit.  Etant donné que l'endroit est à flan de colline, le trou est plus profond à l'arrière qu'à l'avant.  Il est aussi plus grand que le bâtiment en lui-même, car celui-ci sera entouré par un passage couvert à l'arrière et sur les côtés, soutenu par des pilliers qui ont eux aussi besoin de leurs fondations. Ce qui sera le plus profond, ce seront les murs extérieurs, d'où la forme du trou.

The main building is rectangular except for a semi-octogonal window front part in the direction of the lake, which is going to provide a great view from the living room. In front of this part there will be a terrace posed directly on the rock.  Considering that the house is located on the side of a hill, the hole is deeper at the back than at th front.  It is also bigger that the building itself, since the building will be surrounded on its back and side parts by a covered passage, itself supported by pillars that need foundations too.  The deepest part will be the outside walls, hence the shape of the hole.

Disneyland Paris

Pas grand-chose à raconter sur ces vacances, je dois bien avouer : contrairement aux années précédentes, nous sommes restés tranquillement calfeutrés chez mes parents. Outre le fait que les déplacements étaient difficiles par manque de voiture, revoir les amis et la famille (je n'étais pas rentrée en Belgique depuis plus de six mois) et profiter de la piscine m'ont amplement suffis. D'autant plus que ça aurait été dommage de partir visiter de superbes endroits quand... on a oublié l'appareil photo en Finlande !

La seule excursion que nous nous sommes accordée fut une journée à Disneyland Paris. L'aller-retour dans la journée est possible si on accepte de passer huit heures en voiture (empruntée à mon papa). Et grâce au petit frère qui a accepté de nous prêter son appareil photo, je peux vous montrer quelques images. Car ce qui est remarquable dans ce parc, ce ne sont pas (uniquement) les attractions mais surtout les décors et les shows et la magie qu'ils créent.

Pendant les vacances, on perd de vue son calendrier : nous ne nous sommes rendus compte que sur la trajet aller que nous avions choisi précisément le 14 juillet pour notre petite escapade en France... Qu'à cela ne tienne, la foule n'était pas trop impressionnante, les files ne faisaient pas plus d'une demi-heure et une bonne pluie a encore éclairci tout ça. Sur une journée nous avons visité les deux parcs (Disneyland Studio et le parc principal) et nous avons pu faire, sans se presser, quasiment toutes les attractions que nous souhaitions. Nous sommes rentrés tout simplement lessivés mais très contents de notre journée !

Not much to show or write about these holidays, I must say : we stayed quietly at my parents' place. Last years we travelled a lot, but this time it would have been more difficult considering that we we didn't have a car available. But spending time with my family and friends (I hadn't been in Belgium in six months) or enjoying the swimming pool was enough for me. Also, it would have been a shame to see beautiful places... when we had forgotten our camera in Finland !

The only visit we made was a one-day trip to Disneyland Paris. From my parents' house, it's possible to go there for a day if you accept to spend 8 hours driving (the car borrowed to my father). And thanks to my little brother's camera, I also have pictures to show you. Because what makes this leisure park remarquable, it's mainly the scenery and the shows that create some kind of a magic.

During holiday time you don't look at your agenda. That's how we discovered only on the way there that we had picked Bastille Day for our trip to France. Whatever, the crowd was manageable, lines would not take more than 30 minutes and an hour of rain cleared it all up. We managed to go through both parks (Disneyland Studio and the main Disneyland Park) and try almost every ride we wanted to without hurrying. We came back home totally exhausted but very happy about our days !

Fin de la pause vacances / End of holiday break

Oui je sais, je vous annonce la fin avant d'avoir annoncé le début : mais voilà, je pensais pouvoir bloguer pendant les deux semaines de vacances en famille, et finalement j'y ai renoncé. Trop envie de me couper entièrement de ma vie habituelle, j'imagine, j'ai à peine pointé le nez sur internet - un exploit en ce qui me concerne !

Mais me voilà de retour, avec une grande envie de tout vous raconter... Je vous mets à jour sans attendre !

Yes I know, I come to announce the end of a holiday break while I didn't mention its start. I had actually planned to write here during these two weeks spent with my family, but I didn't. I guess I needed a really cut-out from my usual life, and I hardly came on the internet at all.

But here I am, back online, and about to fill you in with new infos of every kind. Stay tuned !
