Une exposition photo un peu particulière a lieu à Helsinki en ce moment. Elle consiste en une douzaine de clichés où sont mélangés des images de la ville pendant la deuxième guerre mondiale avec les mêmes clichés pris récemment.
Le résultat est assez bluffant : on y retrouve des lieux familiers (d'autant plus faciles à reconnaître que chaque photo est accompagnée de sa localisation sur un plan), en couleurs, fondus avec la représentation en noir et blanc des mêmes endroits lourdement marqués par la guerre. La partie moderne permet de se plonger avec d'autant plus de réalisme dans les anciennes photos, comme s'ils actualisaient les destructions résultant des bombardements. Sous les enseignes connues, à côté des voitures et des passants modernes, on découvre des bâtiments criblés de balles ou en feu, des façades éventrées, des rues jonchées de débris ou envahies par les meubles de ceux qui viennent de perdre leur logement. L'impression de plongée dans la guerre est déjà présente dès l'entrée où trône un obus aérien de 500kg.
L'exposition est à l'initiative des forces armées finlandaises. Elle se trouve à Sanomatalo (tout près de la gare centrale) jusqu'à demain, puis sera à nouveau visible du 10 janvier au 4 février à Laituri, le centre d'information et d'exposition de la division urbanisme de la Ville d'Helsinki (Narinkka 2, dans le bâtiment jaune entre Kamppi et Lasipalatsi).

A special photo exhibition is taking place right now in Helsinki. It features a dozen of pictures mixing photos of the city during the second world war with pictures of the same spots nowadays.
The final works are rather impressive: those living here will recognize familiar places (ever easier to spot with their localisation on a map), in color shots, melted with black and white representations of the same places heavily marked by war. The modern part allows you to feel even better the realism of the older pictures, giving the feeling that destructions and bombings have taken place just yesterday. Well-known shops and brands, modern cars and passer-bys, accompany buildings with gunshot marks, ablaze or partly collapsed, streets full of broken construction materials or sheltering the furnitures of those who have lost their home. Visitors get the feeling of diving in war-time right from the entrance where they are welcomed by a 500kg air-bomb.
The headquarters of the general staff of the Finnish Defence Forces instigated the project, which runs at Sanomatalo (right next to the main station) until tomorrow, before moving to an exhibition space at Laituri, the city council’s planning department’s information centre in Narinkka Square number 2, where it will be open from 10 January to 4 February.
