Et qui aurait paraît-il eu cette phrase remarquable: Software is like sex, it's better when it's free!
Ouf !
Simo Häyhä (1905-2002), the best snyper in any major war. During the Winter War when Finland was fighting Russia, (1939-1940), he killed a good 500 ennemies, which makes, during winter time, an average of about one victim per daylight hour. His efficiency made him a legend that helped comforting Finnish troops fighting at 1 against 4.
Linus Torwalds (1969- ), inventor of the open-source Linux kernel. He is said to have made that remarkable quote: Software is like sex, it's better when it's free!
Arto Paasilinna (1942- ), successful writer who manages to slip in his novels a strange humor, mocking his fellow citizens (you might have heard of 'A charming mass suicide', for instance). In my opinion, much more interesting than the more famous "The Egyptian" by Mika Waltari.
Lordi, the heavy metal music band disguised into monsters that had the nerves to win the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006. I'm mentioning them, not that I'm a big fan, but rather because they represent the metal music culture of the country, as well as a little "atypical" side of some people around here.
Matti Nykänen (1963- ), former ski-jumper. Among 5 million of Finnish citizen, there is an insance number of high level sportsmen/women, mainly in car racing, ski jumping and ice hockey. In all these people, since I had to select one, I might as well take the funniest, the one that was front page in the newspapers first for his medals, second for his monkey business and his stupid quotes. To make it simple, we Belgians are not the only ones with our J-C VanDamme... Good feeling !
